During my time as a teacher, I led a seminar series designed to prepare 40 Japanese high school students to attend a series of lectures at the United Nations University in Tokyo, Japan. These lectures focused on the environment and sustainable practices especially in developing countries. My role in this was to lead seven other teachers in preparing these students to handle advanced English, develop critical thinking skills, and learn western (Socratic) style learning practices.
This program was developed through a collaboration with the Ibaraki Board of Education, the United Nations University, and several dedicated ALT’s. I designed these materials to leave behind a standard design format for future iterations of this program.
